Our commitment to environmental management and climate protection is an integral part of our corporate strategy. We drive forward our environmental management across all divisions and realise potential along the entire value chain. This ranges from the consumption of resources in our administration building to the review of suitable measures in our existing portfolio.

For this reason, we have also created a comprehensive carbon footprint for our property portfolio and developed a decarbonisation strategy with specific and achievable carbon reduction targets.

Decarbonisation strategy

In 2021, the energy-related greenhouse gas emissions of our building stock were 56.4 kilograms of CO2 per square metre. This figure is extremely important to us, as it forms the basis for our decarbonisation strategy. We want to halve these emissions to 28.2 kilograms of CO2 per square metre by the end of 2030. This corresponds to an average reduction of 5.6 per cent per year - an ambitious but entirely achievable target, which we have backed up with corresponding catalogues of measures.
